Each year, AA Quarry, LLC mines, grinds, and ships over two million tons of rock aggregate materials, and we’ve been the top rock producer in the southeast since 2005! We’re proud to be the official materials supplier for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock, and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Of course, this shouldn’t suggest that we don’t love working with smaller contractors and individuals: whether you order 100 pounds or 100 tons of construction aggregates from us, you’ll always receive top quality customer service, and no order is too big, or too small!
Two of our best selling products are Rip Rap and Armor Stone. Both are ideal products for erosion control, and if you live near a shoreline or a hillside, both will help you protect your investment. But there are definitely some differences in both form and function, and you always want to find the right product for your project. Here is a quick look at both products, and how they compare:
Rip Rap-Rip rap refers to the large rocks or pieces of concrete rubble that are used to stabilize a shoreline or hillside from erosion.Rip rap stones are generally about 10-18” in size, and in addition to stabilizing shorelines, it also be used to anchor pilings and bridge abutments, and maintain the shape of manmade streambeds and water features!
Armor Stone-Armor stone refers to large, custom cut boulders designed to be both functional and attractive. It carries a higher price tag than rip rap, but it’s worth it for homeowners interested in adding a touch of rustic beauty to their property. Our clients have used armor stone to create beautiful sidewalks, retaining walls, and water features that look like they’ve been there for hundreds of years. We can cut armor stone to order, and the only limit is your own imagination!
